Sometimes you just get stuck for ideas. Your mind is a blank. It makes it even harder to come up with the goods if your present or future business rests on your ideas. A little help and inspiration for a new article, a new product, or a completely new business wouldn’t go amiss in these circumstances.

The purpose of the ideas in this series of articles is to get your brain thinking. The ideas may seem a bit crazy and unrealistic - almost too simple. But…. the intention is for these ideas to act as a trigger, making you say something like: “That idea’s ridiculous, but if I change it around a bit I could…” So, use one or more of these ideas as your starting point and brainstorm your way to a new opportunity.

1. Begin an enterprise which deals in new and old American and British comics. This business might: 1) sell comics by post from a catalogue; 2) operate a comics of the month club for specialised collectors; and 3) run a comics stall at fairs and antique markets.

2. Write to overseas publishers of English language newsletters and offer to act as the distributor for their newsletter in this country. In your letter to the publishers outline the benefits they will gain if they let you distribute their newsletter.

3. Start a service which cleans wire baskets and supermarket trolleys. Wire baskets and trolleys often spend most of the day on a dusty floor or outside in a street open to the elements. This combined with the net-like quality of the wire encourage the accumulation of dust and germs.

4. Use wooden jigsaw pieces to make earrings and necklaces. Add a hand painted design to the side of the jigsaw not covered by a part of the picture. Call your goods jigsaw puzzle jewellery. Sell this jewellery from a stall at fairs or get it stocked at trendy shops.

5. Take metal rods and tubes of different diameters and cut into slices. Arrange the slices to make pictures and patterns. Mount these pictures and sell as craft work. Or produce kits for making pictures with slices of rods and tubes. Use mail order to sell these kits to craft workers.

6. Earn an income from writing articles or books about starting a business and making money. Sell the manuscripts to publishers of business opportunity books, newsletters, magazines and newspapers. For a start, the publisher of this book will welcome any manuscripts.

7. Set up a business which produces a quality audio cassette library of nursery rhymes. Alternatively, produce a series of cassettes which feature X-rated versions of nursery rhymes. Sell these cassettes by either getting them stocked at book shops, or starting a monthly club.

8. Compile and publish a monthly bulletin which informs subscribers of poetry competitions they are eligible to enter at home and abroad. Target your campaign at practising poets for recruiting subscribers to this bulletin.

9. Bring out a series of plans for woodworkers, soft toy makers, leather workers and other craft workers. Either sell printed copies of these plans at wholesale prices, or sell the reproduction rights. So now any craft worker or hobbyist can start a mail order business selling plans.

10. Publish a ‘Which?’-type of newsletter about newsletters. As the number of newsletters and subscribers is ever increasing, there is a gap in the market for a newsletter which comments on and judges the value of other newsletters.

11. Begin an enterprise which makes model paper products for dolls and dolls’ houses. The model products might include: newspapers, money, stationery, serviettes, paper hats, Christmas cards, etc. Sell these products by mail order to doll makers and collectors.

12. Write a non-fiction book which may, for example, be about a hobby. Pay a book printer to produce copies of the book. Sell these books to the people who would be interested in the contents. You might, for example, place ads in hobby magazines.

13. Give personal tuition in your own home on how to write good English. Advertise your teaching service by placing cards in the windows of local newsagents. In your advertising, point out the advantages of taking your course, such as getting a better job and helping children with homework.

14. Start a singles contact magazine or newsletter. Each issue might include both small ads from people looking for partners and editorial to interest single people. Use press and magazine advertising to build up a list of subscribers.

15. Set up a holiday companion introduction service. Your service matches and introduces single people who do not have anyone to go on holiday with. Place classified ads in numerous publications to attract clients. Or produce a publication which lists people looking for holiday companions.

16. Write and publish a newsletter for those who want to start a successful business. The newsletter might, for example, discuss effective ways of: selling, managing, generating ideas, locating suppliers and finding customers. Use your local library service to research these topics.

17. Begin a craft enterprise which turns out wire craft ornaments. These ornaments are free-standing, 3-D objects which consist entirely of wire: the wire makes the outlines. These ornaments might look like aeroplanes, helicopters, men, animals, boats, bicycles or people’s first names.

18. Start a mail order business which promotes the craft of making ornaments and models from shaping wire. Design and make up a complete introductory kit for beginners. Include this kit in your catalogue as well as tools, design ideas and raw materials for wire craft workers.

19. Make football rosettes and get them stocked at newsagents and sports shops. Each rosette might be placed in a cellophane packet or polythene bag.

20. Produce a series of storytelling videos. An actor or actress reads classic novels directly to the camera. Hire out these videos by post. For example, a person might borrow videos of an actor reading ‘War and Peace’, ‘Wuthering Heights’ or ‘Treasure Island’.

21. Start a venture which organises river or coastal boat trips for: business parties, wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthday parties, etc. Your service does things like: organises transport to the boat; books the caterer; hires entertainers and waiting staff, etc.

22. If you can play a musical instrument, earn money from providing background music at: restaurants, pubs, wine bars, tea rooms, hotel breakfasts, amusement arcades or ice skating rinks. Also play during the intervals at theatres or cinemas.

23. Sell copies of theatrical plays by post. Put together a wide range of new and second hand publications and produce a catalogue. Advertise your catalogue in both the theatre press and theatre programmes.

24. Buy and sell second hand compact discs. Buy collections of discs by post and use local ads to find sellers in your area. The discs you acquire can be sold: by post, from market stall, or get them stocked at local shops.

25. Have a stall which sells fashionable clothes. Your staff might be a full time business working at street markets, or it might be a part time venture which appears at craft and antique fairs.

26. Set up a sheet music of the month club. Each month send club members a selection of sheets of the latest popular songs. Club members will include: musicians who play at clubs and pubs, record companies and keen amateur musicians.

27. Sell by mail order Beatles or Elvis memorabilia. Conduct your own research to discover what memorabilia you can produce yourself For example, reprint photographs and duplicate press cuttings. Also buy goods from collectors and trade sources at home and abroad.

28. Put together a mail order catalogue of children’s educational audio cassettes. The cassettes might cover subjects such as spelling, reading, rules of English, grammar, geography, history, etc. Produce some of the cassettes yourself and buy others from cassette publishers.

29. Do your own research to discover the secrets of conjuring. Write a manuscript about your findings and publish it yourself. The novel and sensational nature of this book means you can sell it from ads in magazines and newspapers.

30. Write and record personalised songs. Produce songs for all occasions such as engagements, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, new births, homecomings and congratulations. Use classified ads in the personal columns to attract orders.

It’s one thing to write a book, but an entirely different thing to write one that’s saleable, viable, and marketable. With careful planning you can market, promote, and get (free) publicity (publicity is always free) on a limited budget; you can take the cheap and easy way. In today’s publishing environment, a book’s success depends greatly on a strong marketing plan.

Using press releases can be a very effective marketing tool if used properly. Your book press release should not be written as you would a sales letter or flier, it should be written for the editor and tell about your book in a factual way, no opinion or glowing remarks. Learning to write and use powerful optimized press releases can often drive tons of traffic to your website while providing multiple back links that can lead to increased page rank and numerous top ten search engine rankings for your targeted keywords.

Send out the same press release to the editor of your local daily newspaper every week until you are called for an interview or are written up. Make sure your press release spells out the ‘who, what, where, when, and why.’ Using press releases for marketing or promoting your book or book’s website has become increasingly popular as publishers discover the powerful benefits of using press releases.

Press releases can generate thousands of dollars in sales when picked up by national trade or print media. Send out at least 10 press releases to the print and broadcast media in your area every month.

Make sure your sales letter or flier is first class; this is your formal presentation of your title to the prospective buyer. When you get a nice write up or feature about you and/or your book, have it laminated and set it up on an easel at trade shows. Print and online publications provide longevity to your marketing campaign in terms of having something tangible for people to reference ongoing.

Your sales letter or flier should include an eye-grabbing headline, the benefits to the buyer, the book features, book sales information and testimonials. Women buy more books then men; see how you can fit your book into the women’s market. Place free ads periodically for your book’s website on Craigs List in different categories to drive even more traffic to your website.

It’s important to publish a website that focuses on your title; you’ll be able to refer editors and customers and all interested parties to your book information with the click of a mouse. Submit articles to online article directories that focus on your book’s topic to drive customers to your website. Create an online contest and list it in online contest directories to drive traffic to your website.

Market your book to your number one market first, and then go after the secondary markets. Remember to make sure your book is listed in Books-in-Print; don’t assume it’s already listed. Contact non-bookstore booksellers and offer to leave books on consignment.

Arrange to speak at local, regional and national events that relate to your book topic; bring books along and have an associate sell them at the back of the room. Local radio shows and television appearances are good but are often forgotten within hours of the broadcast; make sure to make or get a copy of any television broadcast for future promotions.

Make sure not to overlook the Internet; get yourself interviewed or profiled for sites both about writing, publishing and about the topics covered in your book. Be your own publicist and send a press release along with a review copy of your book to publications in your book’s genre and to book review magazines.

The success of any book marketing effort depends on a good book and just plain hard work; its been done many times before and you can do it too. If you apply yourself every day and you promote your book like crazy, you can achieve that ultimate goal of selling thousands of copies of your book, many self publishers have. One of the biggest problems self publishers and book publishers tell me about is the hundreds of books they have in inventory they haven’t set up a marketing plan for; don’t let this happen to you — get prepared now.

My job consists of providing information and advice to self-publishing authors. While our conversation usually touches on a variety of topics from cover design to software, there is one subject that consistently stands out as the most misunderstood in the industry–distribution.

In its most basic form, distribution is the process of getting a product into the hands of retailers who in turn provide the product to the end user. Traditionally, the distribution of books was done through companies that moved large quantities of books from the publisher to various bookstores across the country or around the world. The problem with distributing self-published books is that the books are not normally produced in sufficient quantities to provide this wide of a distribution. Then what is the difference between the traditional distribution model and the newer self-published model of distribution? And, how do self-published books make their way to the shelves in your bookstore? The answer is found in the word “available”.

When choosing a self-publishing company that offers distribution services, many authors imagine their book on the shelves of bookstores around the world. They assume this because they are promised that their book will be available in over 25,000 stores worldwide (or some variation of this claim). At first glance, this looks like a golden opportunity, but when authors take a closer look, they realize that having a single copy of their book on the shelves of each of these stores would not be possible unless someone was paying the production costs of the book on their behalf. They aren’t.

Ironically most books, which are available in over 25,000 bookstores, never actually make it to a single bookstore shelf. In fact, a copy of a self-published book is only produced when an order is generated.

How is an order generated if the books are not in the bookstores? The process goes something like this: In order to purchase the book, a potential customer must go to the bookstore, ask for the book by name, search for the book on the bookstore’s database, have one of the bookstore’s staff order the book in, and then wait approximately 4 weeks for the book to arrive at the store. Frankly, most people don’t go through the trouble. What’s worse, many of these self-publishing companies remove books from their distribution list if a certain amount of books are not sold within a relatively short period of time. In the end, most authors find the promise of distribution a very empty promise.

Many self-published authors have found the most effective method of marketing is accomplished through a combination of online and retail sales. Most authors consider listing their book with Amazon for online sales as well as placing copies of their book in a number of local bookstores. Book signings, radio interviews, a personal website and newspaper articles are all things that help to create awareness of a book, and are expected of any author—traditionally or self-published.

Self-publishing is clearly a viable way to publish, provided that authors understand the terms of their service. Remember that having books in hand and truly “available” in stores generates a greater amount of sales at a book signing and greater appeal to those browsing the bookstore shelves.

10 Tips To Becoming An Author

Over 412,000 books were published in the past 12 months according to Books In Print, an authoritative publishing database. That means over 1,100 new books are flooding the marketplace every single day – or almost one per every minute. So how is one to break through the clutter to get their books published, promoted, and sold?

“The good news, is there is no better time in the history of publishing, for individuals seeking access to the marketplace,” says publishing veteran Brian Feinblum. “You’re no longer at the mercy of the big publishing houses. You can get a book published on your own with a minimal financial investment – and you can reap a greater percentage of the profits from what you sell.”

Feinblum, a former book editor and publicist, is the chief marketing officer of Planned Television Arts, the nation’s largest and oldest book promotions firm, often helps self-published or first time authors promote their books. PTA has helped many authors become best-sellers, as well as nurture thousands of unknowns to become household names. Their clients include: Wiley & Sons, Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Random House, Penguin Putnam and McGraw-Hill.

His 10 tips to get published include the following:

1.     If you want a traditional publisher to publish your book you usually need to first find a literary agent to represent you. An agent will take 15% of whatever money you make on the book-for-life. Once a literary agent agrees to represent you and finds a publisher for you, it can take another 12-18 months to publish the book. To locate an agent, consult the Literary Market Place, a directory available at most library reference desks.

2.     You can choose to self-publish. This means you invest money to print your books. But you also get to keep 100% of the profits this way amd retain 100% control of the editing, cover, and content. To self-publish, it’s best to find a distributor, someone who can sell your book to bookstores and libraries, and to generate special sales to corporations, associations, and organizations. A distributor typically takes about 25-30% of the proceeds.

3.     If you want to get published quickly, and keep most of your profits, and layout very little money, consider using print-on-demand publishers such as iUnivese.com, Trafford, or Blurb.com. Instead of printing thousands of books ahead of time, they only print a book when a consumer orders a  copy.

4.     Another way to get published is by doing an e-book. No printing is involved. People just order your book online and it’s downloaded or emailed to them.

5.     To convince a literary agent to represent you or a publisher to publish you, a book proposal needs to be created. In this document you must identify, succinctly, what your book is about, why you’re qualified to write it, how big the marketplace is, what your competing titles are, how you plan to promote and market the book. It’s not enough to just have a good idea for a book or to have a well-written tome.

6.     Publishers are looking for authors with a platform or following. So create a website, blog regularly, build up an e-zine mailing list, podcast, speak at local groups, and network at linked in .com and other social networking sites.

7.     Study the news media. See if they’re covering the topic your book covers. If it’s fiction, check out other novels to see if you find books of a similar nature. You want to follow a trend and tie into it. However, uniqueness counts. If yours is the only book of its kind, you may have found an underserved niche that is ready to be exploited.

8.     Attend Book Expo America, the annual publishing event that features publishers, literary agents, editors, book sellers and publishing industry pros. The best way to float your ideas and test the waters is to come to BEA. Consult www.bookexpoamerica.com.

9.     Read up on the publishing industry. Publishers Weekly is the magazine that covers book publishing. They also have a free daily e-zine, PW Daily. Consult www.publishersweekly.com.

10. Tell everyone you know that you’re trying to get published. Send sample chapters to friends, co-workers, family, etc. You may just get lucky and get discovered. At the very least, you’ll get useful feedback.

For additional tips on how to get your book published or promoted, email feinblumb@plannedtvarts.com.Â

The sad news for the book publishing industry is that book store sales are down. One of the biggest book publishers have recently reported that their book store sales are down by a whopping 10%! This is all scary news for publishers and most of them have already started evasive action against this down turn in sales.

Some publishing companies have already gone out of business while others have started cutting back on the number of books they publish. And even others have stopped accepting new book manuscripts altogether.

But if you were considering self publishing your own book, don’t be disheartened because all this news of lower book sales is great news for the self published author, or anyone thinking about self publishing.

You see most self published authors never see their books available through book stores, unless customers order it. Some self published authors never expect to see their books sitting on book store shelves and have still become millionaire authors.

The trend in book sales now is that more and more people are buying their books online. Online book stores will happily list self published books on their web sites because they don’t need to stock them so if they don’t make a sale then nothing is lost.

You see most self published books are sold by POD (Print On Demand). This means that unless someone specifically orders a copy of your book - through a book store or an online store - your book isn’t printed.

So self publishing through POD means that you don’t have to keep a huge stock of you books and they can be sold all over the world automatically.

But how many book sales can you get using POD publishing?

Well, that obviously depends of the popularity of your book and how well it’s marketed.

And with all the big publishing companies struggling to make sales now, you may wonder what hope there is for the self published author. And there answer is that there is more hope than ever for the self published author to prosper.

You see the problem with the big publishing houses is that they have so many overheads (stock, premises, staff, transport, etc) that they need to make huge book sales to survive. So if they publish a book they need to feel reasonably confident that they will sell tens of thousands of copies.

Whereas the self published author will be happy with less sales.

If you want to look at it as dollars and cents consider this:

If you self published a book and sold it through online book stores, libraries, etc and you sold only 2,000 copies per year. To a publishing company that would be disastrous. But to the self published author who is earning around $10 or more per book , it is good news, even with so few sales.

And if you wrote several books and sold 2,000 copies or more of each book every year, you’d be earning in excess of $100,000 a year. And remember that selling 2,000 books a year is actually very low sales, and you could easily sell twice that many.

And the more books you write, the more book you can sell. We all have favourite authors and will usually buy all the books they write. So if you could write and publish several books and build up a loyal fan base, then the number of books you could sell is unlimited.

But don’t take my word for it. Self publishing a book costs very little and is easy to do. If you know the steps to publishing a book, know which companies you can use to help you and know how to market your book with minimal effort and outlay, then you could write book after book and feel safe in the knowledge that every one of them will be published.

So take advantage of the of the currently publishing climate and start publishing all your own books.

Can you imagine how great it would be to work at home as a self published author and wave goodbye to the 9-to-5 rat race forever?

If you are an internet marketer, or a regular internet user, you have seen an increase in the amount of article directories on the net lately. Article directories are a great place for internet marketers to promote their sites, for bloggers to gain free content, for webmasters to gain free content, and for readers to learn from experts on virtually every topic imaginable.

If you publish a website, you want it to rank high on search engines for free traffic. One main part of the algorithm that search engines use to deem the quality of a website is the number of quality inbound links. Writing articles that are relevant to the theme of your website with a link to your site in the resource box is a great way to pick up inbound links. These articles will be filled with keywords related to your site so that when the search engine spiders scan through the article, then find your link, makes the search engines like your site.

You can submit your website manually to hundreds, or even thousands of directories if you are ambitious enough. Or you can purchase an article submission tool. These take a lot of the steps out of the submission process and saves you time as your article is submitted to the list of article directories on the software’s list.

There also are a few bigger article directories, some free, some paid, that will submit your article to hundreds of other article directories automatically. This saves you even more time and is a recommended way to disseminate your articles.

Many webmasters also pull articles either manually or through RSS feeds for content on their websites or blogs from these article directories. This is yet again another way to get more eyes and more links to your site.

There are also a large number of people who go to article directories for information on a specific topic. If they find your article, odds are good that they will follow the link to your website in the resource box.

If operate a blog, article directories are a terrific way to make your blog run on autopilot. You can go to article directories and set up your blog to take RSS feeds from the directories that will publish articles relevant to the theme of your blog to your blog automatically which gives you fresh content for your readers. This saves you the time and effort of righting post after post on your blog.

If you publish a website, article directories are a great way to pull relevant content for your website. Search engines like to see quality content with keywords that relate to your website and when you pull these articles you are really doing your website a favor by giving the search engine spiders more to look at.

People who write articles for article directories can bee looked at as an expert on a topic. Everyone is an expert on something and if you have publish a website and write articles about it, odds are good that you are an expert on that topic or else you would have lost interest in the project.

There are a great number of people out there who want to read your expert opinion on a topic. People grow wary of opinions from newspaper or other editorials and articles from article directories is a great way to get a fresh opinion or to learn details about a topic. There are literally articles on almost every topic imaginable so if you want to learn anything from a book or product review, relationship or financial advice, or even how to guides, article directories provide an excellent resource for this kind of information written by experts on the topic.

So if you want to promote your website, article directories are clearly a valuable tool for you to use. If you publish a blog or a website, article directories provide quality content that can be static or streaming in a RSS feed. Or if you are someone who is looking to learn more on a particular topic, you now see how important these article directories truly are and you can see when it comes to these directories, the more the merrier. So what are you waiting for, get out there and discover what an article directory has to offer you today!

Even if your best blocker owns a top publishing company, giving you an immediate in, this does not guarantee publishing success.
First, you have to write a quality book that has a clear target audience. And your book must answer a common problem or need that audience shares. Then you have to develop a marketing plan, and stick to it for at least two oldness.

publishing an ebook

Let’s begin not tell the process that should commence before you write your first word. Begin by reading A LOT. Read both books you passionately love and books you can’t seem to make it past page five. Then figure out what the author did in the drop you loved, and what was wrong with in the blow you couldn’t finish.
Formulate down these points so they are crystal clear to you. Read other people’s books for inspiration and to discover what you should avoid as a writer.

The next step is to plan out your book. Narrow down your subject, and then divide it into chapters. Each chapter should address a specific attribute of the problem your book is going to solve. In each chapter, break the specific aspect down curiosity several parts.
This will help your readers take in your information a bit at a time instead of neat them with every bit of information clogging up the pages until they feel like they’re about to go blind. It’s not absolutely spoon – feeding the information to your readers, but it’s close.

The ensuing two steps are obvious. Write your book and then revise absolute. Again then revise it again. And perhaps again. Of course, writing is extremely hard, and writing a book can seem like an impossible task. There are many books out there that give you guidelines to help you become familiar – and even yearning – the process of writing and revision. Find a number of books about writing. Better yet, find a number of books about writing the specific type of book you aspire to write.
These can serve as roadmaps on your writing journey.

Once you’ve written your ebook and revised irrefutable at least twice, show it to someone else whose opinion you respect. If you’re lucky enough to know a select editor, see if you own something to barter for him or her to go through your manuscript. Or join a writing group and let the other members critique your work.
Then take all these ideas from other people, and revise your manuscript unequaled last time. And then stop!

Put down that pen! Get your hands off the keyboard!
One of the incalculably essential steps to actually producing a book is to know when to stop writing and tinkering with it.

You’ve conclusively written your ebook! Pop open the bubbly! Give yourself a night out on the town!
Okay, now that this necessary celebration is out of your system, what engage in you do next?

How to turn your ebook into Profits Ebooks are a revolutionary plan to publish your book without incurring the costs of print production. Gross you need is a relevant and targeted subject also some inexpensive software, and you can transform your manuscript into a book.
The problem, agency terms of actually seeing any profits from your ebook, is that the market is overwhelmed with ebooks, and many of them are not worth the time it takes to download them. Just because the ability exists to easily produce an ebook, doesn’t make it good writing.

Make sure your take off does not simply rehash old material. You will injure your credibility as an author by claiming to offer valuable new insights and disappointing your audience with material they’ve read a lousy with times before. So spend enough time writing again revising your book to make sure it’s of the highest quality and presents the powerfully current information. A good book will eventually sell itself; false claims about your book will make it mortally difficult to sell any future books you may set forth.
Assuming you have determined that you do indeed posses a quality product that answers some question or occasion of your target audience with Unseasoned information, how cook you know how much to charge for it? Rule number 1: Set a price for your book equal to its value. An under – priced book will only give the feeling that your book isn’t worth true much.

To figure out a fair price, estimate how much stage you put into creating it and how difficult it was to transform the necessary lowdown into understandable and engaging writing. Figure out how much your time and effort is worth, besides then price it accordingly. The goal is for you to be adequately compensated through your talent, your time, and your effort.
Once you’ve figured out a price that is high enough to ferry the value of the book, but not so colossal as to be out of the reach of your hub audience’s mean budget, then it’s time to offer it thanks to sale on your website. To attract sales, you will need to develop a promotional campaign, particularly if you are an unknown author.

There are multitudes of books about self – promotion that will guide you grease your efforts. Hang out a animus that is both creative and acknowledged. Learn how to write a melodious fundamentally informative press release, and send copies of your ebook to sites that specialize in ebook reviews.
Gain how to write powerful sales copy, or hire someone to write it for you. This is an right-hand. You absolutely need excellent sales copy to sell your book. Arrange sure the copy includes all the reasons your target audience needs your book, and the benefits they will derive from buying it.

Use graphics in your promotional materials. Beautiful graphics have the power to instantly convey the quality and value of your ebook. Graphics boundness also convey the amount of valuable information the resign contains, and your careful attention to detail.
Professional graphics sell professional books. They reassure the customer that the trouble is what it claims to be.

Consider excerpting chapters for articles. You can offer these tidbits for free on your website as a sort of demo of your book. Include an order form for your ebook at the confine of the excerpted articles.
Finally, when you set – up your download link, make sure to simplify the process. It’s a good idea to offer a few bonuses that make your book even more enticing to purchase, but make sure the bonuses are valuable also high quality. Too many bonuses that are basically a load of useless stuff will compromise the impression your audience has of your ebook. The goal is to convey to your audience that they are getting a standard tug for a good deal. That means applying predomination, especially when it comes to adding bonus items. Too much free stuff offered diminishes your credibility.

Make inarguable your book is a excellence tension. Make sure it is relevant and current. Develop an effective marketing plan that includes excellent sales copy besides excerpted articles. Thus offer your book for sale, and wait for your quickie to discover you!

Does anyone know of one that would accept it?

Go to a place like Kinko’s or the UPS store and ask for it to be bound; it’s not going to look like a soft cover or hardcover book, but it’ll be bound. You can also check lulu.com to see how many pages minimum you need. If you have enough pages then you can get it bound into an actual book.

I am near the end of writing a short book. It will probably measure up to be about 120-150 pages. I have shown my friends and my parents and they all think that it is really good and I should try publishing it. But I do not know how, I would also like to know how much it was cost to publish. Someone help me
First, finish your book.
Type it in proper manuscript form (http://www.writersdigest.com has the details on what is needed).
Edit it many times to make it as good as it can be. Put it in a drawer, and don’t even think about it, for a month or two, then take it out and do more editing.
Get it proofread by someone who knows what they are doing (do not rely only on spellcheck).

There are a tiny number of publishers who accept unsolicited manuscripts (those that don’t go through a literary agent), so you need an agent, first.

Visit http://www.agentquery.com or, at the library or bookstore, look for Bowker’s Literary Marketplace, Writer’s Market 2010 or Jeff Herman’s Guide to Literary Agents. Look for agents that handle your genre, and are looking for new clients. Read, and follow, their submission guidelines.

Those books will have something about writing a query letter, which is what you send to the agent, first. It’s half explanation as to why your book should be published, and half synopsis of your book. You have only that one-page letter to wow the agent, so take the time to make it a good one.

Expect the whole process to take lots of time, and plan on many rejections. When you are accepted by an agent, they will send your book to publishers, not you.

Except for postage, the entire process of getting an agent is **FREE**, until your book is bought by a publisher. That is when the agent gets their cut, usually 15%, of the money that goes to you. Run away from any agent who asks for money upfront. If you self-publish, then you will pay up to a couple of thousand dollars, depending on the publisher.

What is an eBook?

An eBook or electronic book or digital book is a simply digital text file that can be read on your computer or dedicated reading devices. eBook may consist of text, sound, photographs, illustrations and video. eBook also can contain the “hot link” that will bring the eBook reader immediate access to the website linked in the text.

Your eBook can be published in several different ways :

1.	Your eBook can be as a digital file that are downloaded and then read on the laptop or desktop computer.

2.	Your eBook can be created as a digital file that are downloaded and read on palm-top or handheld computer.

3.	Your eBook can be created as a digital file that downloaded and read on dedicated eBook reader devices.

4.	Your eBook can be a digital file that are copied onto CD-ROM or Floppy Disk.

Here is what you need to start your successful journey in publishing your eBook :

1.	You need a computer with internet connection.

2.	You need Microsoft Word Program to let you save the ASCII text files. If you have the Adobe Acrobat that would be great, but you don’t need it now as a beginning time.

3.	You need a fax machine.

4.	You need several e-mail accounts. You will need one for your business, one for your personal e-mail and one for the return email when you register to search engine and directories because when you register to them, you will receive a lot of junk e-mails.

5.	You need a desire to adjust your market place. Try to stay out of a fixed mindset on what a book is supposed to resemble. Allow your paying customer to help it evolve into a masterpiece that they will enjoy. Keep open for formatting and authoring more eBooks in a variety of formats.

The advantage of publishing eBook rather than traditional book publishing :

1.	The production cost that you must spend is much much much lower than you publish a traditional book.

2.	You will realize a higher rate of return.

3.	Your eBook can be distributed to world wide easily and quickly.

4.	You will able to perfect the eBook by making changes to the text whenever you feel it necessary.

The most important thing by publishing your own eBook is you have started your own business that will bring you to become an internet entrepreneur.
